Beulah Evans Brown was born August 3, 1930 in Orangeburg, South Carolina to the late Henry and Evelyn Paulings Evans. She departed this earthly journey on October 20, 2018 at the age of 88.
At an early age, Beulah accepted Jesus Christ as her savior and was baptized at Macedonia Baptist Church in Orangeburg, South Carolina.
Beulah graduated from Orangeburg-Wilkerson High School Class of 1951 and married her high school sweetheart Odell Rudolph Brown two days later.
Beulah received her Licensed Practical Nursing Degree from the College of Charleston to pursue her passion to serve others.
Beulah worked in the military, public, and private medical facilities throughout the country and abroad. She worked in several fields of nursing from intensive care, emergency care, surgical care, and psychiatric care during her career. Even once administering palpitations to a beating heart in her hands during a surgical procedure. She retired from Moncrief Army Hospital, Fort Jackson, South Carolina in 1993.
Upon settling in Columbia, South Carolina after her husband’s United States Air Force career, she found a church home and joined her beloved First Nazareth Baptist Church. She was a faithful member of the Sunshine Garden Club to which she actively recruited members.
Affectionately known as “Monkey” to her parents and siblings, and “House” to her children and grandchildren, she was “The Life of the Party”. Her beautiful smile, quick wit and the ability to execute the perfect punchline kept her audience rolling in laughter. Her love for her family was strong and endless. She made the good times better and the hard times bearable.
Beulah was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Evelyn Evans; her sister, Willie Mae Johnson; two brothers, John Henry Evans and Hercules “Billy” Evans.
Beulah leaves to cherish her precious memory one son, Russell (Kerline) Brown; one daughter, Dyann Denise Anderson; five grandchildren, Alexis Denise Hammond, Jason Sandy Anderson, Madison Victoria Brown, Jaylen Brittany Anderson and Trinity Makayla Anderson; one son-in-law, Sandy James Anderson; her sister, Catherine (Eddie) Williams; two brothers, Abraham (Bessie) Evans and Robert (Rosa) Evans; and a host of special loving nieces, nephew, cousins, relatives and loving friends.
