Louis Evans Scott was born on August 18, 1931 in Allendale County, South Carolina to the late Capus Scott and Lillie Cook. He was the third of five children. He was married for 32 years to the late Carrie Louise Scott. He departed this life on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at Palmetto Health Richland Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Scott was educated in the public schools of Allendale County, South Carolina. He was employed by Eudy Wholesale and Cornell Arms Drug Store, where he retired.
Mr. Scott was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. Reflecting over his life, we saw the many valued and meaningful roles that he played in everyone’s life. First and foremost, we saw a God fearing family man with a big heart. He loved the Lord, his family and everyone who knew him knew his love for the Gamecocks. There was nothing he wouldn’t do for his family and friends. He was the happiest when he was surrounded around his family and friends. His dedication to his family was the foundation of his actions and the anchor that defined and shaped his life.There was never a dull moment when he was around. He led by example and was a role model and an inspiration to many people.
Louis was a faithful member of Second Nazareth Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife and parents, Louis was preceded in death by his three brothers, David Scott, Herbert Scott, and Capus Scott, Jr.; one sister, Jerry Lee Scott Garvin; son-in-law, Gene Alfred Utsey; and adopted grandson, Cory Jenkins.
Louis is survived by his five children, Louis (Brenda) Scott, Loretta Diane “Bit” Scott Utsey, Edward Scott, Sharon (Larry) Boneparte and Anthony Scott.; adopted daughter, Verdie Mae Murphy; brother, Mack Scott; daughter-in-law, Debra Scott; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one sister-in law, Ruby Crayton; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dedicated lifelong friends who will miss him dearly.
