Although I did not have the privilege of knowing Mr, Doughty, I have personally experienced the pain of losing someone I've loved dearly. I extend my heartfelt condolences to you. Please be assured of God’s enduring love for you, his concern with your well-being, and his willingness to help you endure this difficult time (1 Peter 5:7). I pray that God’s promise at Revelation 21:4 will provide you comfort in the days to come.

It is indeed sad that you are mourning the loss of your dear Joseph. Please accept my condolences and know that our loving God is keenly aware of your distressing pain. His comforting word assures us that in due time, he will eliminate all suffering on earth, including death. Notice how the Bible stresses that fact in the faith strengthening video below:
