Mr. James Jimmy Moten

James Jimmy Moten peacefully transitioned from this earthly journey to his heavenly home on April 13, 2018. He was born on March 28, 1948, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Percy and Laura Moten. Jimmy was the youngest of the children born from this union.

Jimmy was educated in the public schools of Detroit. He was a hard worker and held several positions in many different capacities.  Jimmy provided the majority of his work service to Ford Motor Company and General Motors, where he was employed for 20 years.

Jimmy loved fishing, listening to old school R&B music, volunteering at the senior citizen building where he resided, and spending time with his family and friends. He dedicated his life to his family and community. Those close to Jimmy knew his sisters, children, and grandchildren held a special place in his heart. He left a lasting impression and touched many hearts in many different places. 

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Percy and Laura Moten; two sisters, Lorraine Rhodes and Louis Chatman; two brothers, John Rhodes and Michal Rhodes; and two nephews, Deon Lewis and Joe N. Thomas.

Jimmy leaves to cherish and carry on his fond memories his loving four children, Cassandra Martin, James Daniel, Kaunyetta Houston, and Jerry Patrick; five sisters, Katy Mae Louis, Betty Jean Anthony, Reatha Mae Rice, Karen Rhodes, and Loretta Pennettra Rhodes; four grandchildren, Berlinda Daniel, Courtney Daniel, Jamia Daniel, and LaShawnda Daniel; five great-grandchildren; three aunts, Genevia McMullen, Eleanor Osby, and Leona Lee; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
