Lee Ethel Middleton peacefully transitioned from this earthly journey to her heavenly home on March 29, 2018. Ethel, as she was affectionately called, was born on July 19, 1920, in Irmo, South Carolina, to the late Wade and Sallie Lorick.
Ethel was educated in the school district of Richland County in Irmo, South Carolina and she attended Harbison Industrial Institute. Ethel left home as a teen to live with her aunt in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for a number of years and returned to South Carolina in 1947. During her life, she held several jobs. She was employed with Green Thumb in Georgia, Allied Chemical Cafeteria, District 5 Office Building, and several schools within the district. She also sold Avon for over forty years, and she was a caretaker until she was 90 years old.
Ethel joined St. Paul A.M.E Church at an early age, but later in life became more active. She served as an Usher, Steward and was on the Missionary Board. She also was a member of the Jubilee Choir.
Ethel was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Middleton; her parents, Wade and Sallie Lorick; seven brothers, Robert (Ruth) Lorick, Wilbur (Christine) Lorick, Ulices (Katie) Lorick, John Earl (Ruth) Lorick, Herbert (Eloise) Lorick, Nathaniel Lorick, and Malverse (Mary) Lorick.
Ethel leaves to cherish her fond memories one sister, Ruth Lorick Bowman; her caretakers, Master Israel Everett, Adrian Everett, and Al Everett; grandchildren, Alberta Reeves, and Cheryl Reeves; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
