A Time To Be Born

Ms. Easter Brown, age 86, was born in Barnwell, South Carolina on October 20, 1931 to the late Jim Brown, Sr. and the late Easter Bishop Brown.

A Time To Grow

Easter, fondly known as “Sister”, attended Bethlehem Primary School and Butler High School in Barnwell, South Carolina. At an early age, Easter accepted Christ and joined Morris Chapel Baptist Church in Barnwell, South Carolina.  She later joined First Nazareth Baptist Church in Columbia, South Carolina. After graduating, Easter relocated to Charleston, South Carolina and then to Jersey City, New Jersey. She was employed by Maidenform Inc., located in Bayonne, New Jersey, as a seamstress.  She worked for Maidenform for 35 years and retired in January 1997.

Reflections

Easter loved to travel.  For over fifty years, she traveled with her family as far as the Dominican Republic along with numerous trips around the U.S. including yearly trips to her beloved South Carolina.  She traveled with her friends on numerous bus tours in the Northeast United States to various shopping outlets, Upstate New York and Atlantic City, New Jersey. Easter loved to cook.  She was known for her baked chicken and rice; various pies; and potato salad. She tried various recipes from all cultures and ethnicities.  She loved serving meals to her friends and family.

A Time to Move On

No man knows the minute or the hour when the son of God shall come and claim his children.  God came and called forth the spirit of Easter on May 11, 2018 at NHC Parkland in Columbia, South Carolina.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Easter (Bishop) Brown; her sisters, Vivian Brown, Inez Adams, Mary Jefferson, Bertha Brown, Remell Harris, and Edna Mae Walker; and her brothers, Ralph, Jim Jr., Solomon, and Moses Brown.
