Ms. Valerie Swinton Obituary

Valerie Elaine Swinton, affectionately known as “Lucy”, was born on March 11, 1954, to the late Zebaline and Levi Swinton, Jr. in Columbia, South Carolina. She departed this earthly journey on March 7, 2021, at Magnolia Manor Nursing Home in Greenville, South Carolina.

Valerie attended the public schools of Richland County School District One and was a proud graduate of Lower Richland High School, Class of 1973.

Val loved a good laugh and good gossip. She was employed by the South Carolina Department of Mental Health as a Mental Health Specialist.

In addition to her parents, Valerie was preceded in death by her brother, Zebedee Swinton; and two sisters, Annette McDaniels and Jeanette Cousins.

Valerie is survived by her daughter, Robin E. Swinton of Charlotte, NC; three grandchildren, Andre, Diamond, and Mya of Columbia, SC; one brother, Levi Swinton, Jr.; three sisters, Freda Butler, Edna Pruitt, and Carol Johnson all of Columbia, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends whom all will miss her dearly.
