Ms. Sara Caitlin Vilchez

Sara Catilin Vilchez was born on November 7, 1989, in Columbia, South Carolina to Bobby and Erika (Parker) Maynard. She passed away Friday, September 3, 2021, at the age of 31. Sara spent her life in Northeast Columbia and Elgin, South Carolina. Her favorite school was Spring Valley High School, where she was a part of the  Class of 2008. In her youth, she was a member of Spears Creek Baptist Church and remained spiritual for the rest of her life.

Sara spent most of her life working at Pontiac House of Pizza (lovingly referred to as PHOP) where she cultivated a second family that grew to love her as their own. After a while, she left to pursue an office job, to afford more time with her children. Her search landed her at Christine Walker Soberano Tax Prep and Business Services, where once again she excelled and created not only a career but yet another family that accepted her as one of their own.  

Sara was loved by everyone that met her and she never met anyone who wasn't impacted by her love and generosity. She never said no to anyone in need and was always the first to come up with solutions to any problems she was given. Her life was devoted to her four children and family, natural and extended.

Sara was preceded in death by her angel son, Mateo Turcios; grandmothers, Betty Jo Timmons (66) and Judith Parker (53); and grandfather, Donald Parker (64).

Sara leaves to cherish her memory her four daughters, Arianna Vilchez (14), and Ashleigh Vilchez (11), Maria "Nicole" Vilchez Turcios (8), and Maryana Turcios (3 weeks); parents, Erika and Bobby Maynard; siblings, Amanda Haynes (Maynard) (35), Austin Maynard (19), and CeceliaJo Maynard (17); grandfather Walter Timmons (73); two men who loved her deeply, Jesus Arturo Vilchez Cruz and Elmer "Memo" Turcios Carceres; sisters by choice, Amber Jefferson Yon (36), Aliana Francisco Wolfe (36), and Patricia Dalton (35); and a host of brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and close friends.
