Sandra Faye Prewitt was born on April 4, 1956 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Freddie Lee Sanders. She was called to God’s side on September 8, 2021.
Sandra was educated in the Chicagoland Public School System and was a graduate of Lucy Flower Technical High School for Girls in 1974. Soon after graduation, she joined the United States Army where she honorably served for over 20 years. During this time, she obtained her Associate’s Degree from Creighton University in Nebraska and her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Texas, San Antonio, both in nursing. Upon her retirement she obtained her Master’s Degree in nursing from the University of Phoenix.
Sandra was a God fearing woman who served in many capacities at her home church, Greenview Baptist Church in Columbia, South Carolina. However, it was not uncommon for her to attend services and volunteer at several other churches and organizations around Columbia and the United States as a faithful member of Joyce Meyers Ministries.
Sandra wore many hats in her career to include: nurse manager at Moncreit while an officer in the army, manager of Special Donations at the American Red Cross, Unit Nurse at Department of Juvenile Justice, and Nurse Case Manager at the very same hospital she retired from in 1997.
To say that Sandra impacted the lives of hundreds for the better, would be an understatement. She was a true pillar of her community having served in several service organizations to include: Chi Eta Phi nursing sorority, Kappa Epsilon Psi (KEY) sorority, Red Hatters Society, Red Dress Society for Heart Health, Greenview Usher Board, and various other charitable causes and organizations
