On October 31, 2023, Ricarda Andrea (Gracia) Johnson took her final breath surrounded by her loving family in Columbia, South Carolina.
The sun rose and the world welcomed Ricarda on June 17, 1953, in Canton, Ohio, to the late Benjamin “Benny” Gracia and Margaret Gracia.
Ricarda’s presence made the world brighter. Her smile was infectious, and she always kept everyone laughing. Ricarda lived a full and warm life, filled with love and joy. She was totally devoted to her late husband “Jim”, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She adored them and they adored her. With Jim being in the Army, Ricarda lived in many different places over the world. This allowed her to amass friends everywhere. Jim and Ricarda settled in Clarksville, Tennessee, where she was a registered nurse, and later a Nurse Advocate at Blanchfield Hospital in Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
Ricarda was preceded in death by her loving husband of 48 years, William “Jim” Johnson; brother, Benjamin “Benjy” (Elaine) Gracia;,and parents-in-law, Evelyn and Billy Johnson.
Ricarda is survived by her daughter, Carissa (Jonathan, Sr.) Breeland of Columbia, SC son, Dmitri "Jay" Johnson of Clarksville, TN; granddaughters, Alexxa Breeland of Atlanta, GA and Mikayla Breeland of Columbia, SC; grandson, Jonathan (Elecia) Breeland, Jr. of Charlotte, NC; great-grandchildren, Amir Breeland and Brooklyn Breeland both of Columbia, SC; mother, Margaret Gracia of Canton, OH; brothers, Roland (Doris) Gracia of Mesa, AZ, Philip (Janet) Gracia of St. Paul, MN, and Wayne "Scotty" (Teresze) Gracia of Canton, OH; sisters, Denise (Reggie) Gracia Kelley of Farmington Hills, MI, Michele Gracia of Hillsborough, NJ, and Stephanie (Chuck) Gracia of Canton, OH; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives and friends.
Ricarda made her mark on this world as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She will be fondly remembered and sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.
