Ms. Rebecca Jones

Rebecca Ann Jones was born on July 11, 1949, to the late Dorothy Mae Hickson in Florence,
South Carolina. She departed this earthly journey on November 5, 2024, after being loved by
many and cared for by her daughter.
Rebecca was employed with Baptist Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina as a Food Service
Worker. She enjoyed cooking, helping others, servicing plants, and cleaning on and off the job.
Rebecca accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized at Mill Creek Baptist Church
in Columbia, South Carolina. She attended services there when she was physically able. She was
also ministered to by her son, Torrance, her daughter, Dorris, and her granddaughter, Nailah;
through the reading of scriptures and Bible discussions.
Rebecca loved everyone dearly and had a giving heart. She was known as the matriarch of the
entire family. She would often welcome family and friends into her home, serving them with
home cooked meals; often including her irresistible collard greens, cabbage, cornbread and Kool-
Aid or sweet tea. She will always be remembered for her unconditional love and for being a
woman who knew and loved the Lord tremendously.
In addition to her mother, Rebecca was preceded in death by her brother, Roy Jones; sister,
ReEtta Graham; and grandson, David Outing II.
Rebecca leaves to cherish her precious memories her five children, David (Takecia) Outing,
Thomas Outing, Torrance (Ranina) Outing; Timothy (LaShonda) Outing, and Dorris (Ako)
Taylor; siblings, John Jones, James Jones, Roberta (Eddie) Goodwin, and Rose Muldrow all
residing in Columbia, SC; 19 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 25 nieces and nephews; and
a host of other loving relatives and friends.
