Ms. Melissa Gordon

Melissa Evette Gordon was born April 12, 1976, to Gloria Wood Gordon and the late Glenn Dale Gordon. She departed this life on January 24, 2025, at her residence.

Melissa was a member of Sutton Branch Baptist Church in Lugoff, SC. She continued to hold on to her faith in God throughout her illness.

Melissa was educated in the public schools of Richland County and was a proud graduate of W. J. Keenan High School, Class of 1994. She went on to obtain her Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry from Benedict College.

Melissa began her career path as a Pharmacy Technician at The Medicine Shoppe. She continued to thrive in her field, lending her expertise to different hospitals throughout the Midlands. She furthered her career at William Jennings Bryan Dorn Veterans Affairs Medical Center until she was unable to work.

In addition to Melissa’s father, Glenn Dale Gordon, she was preceded in death by, her maternal grandparents, Roosevelt and Lois Wood; her paternal grandparents, Frankie and Geneva Gordon; and her uncles, Bobby Wood, Sr. and Mackie Gordon.

Melissa leaves to mourn her passing, her loving daughter, Ciara T. Gordon; her mother, Gloria Wood Gordon; two sisters, Dr. Patrice (Bryan) Gregory and Taneisha (Larry Jr.) Rockmore; one brother, Brenton (Tyleather) Gordon; life-long family friends, Teisha Jones and Teidra Dennis; her grand-puppy, Sway; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who will all miss her dearly.
