Joan Eullee Bowen, born on October 23, 1958, in Florence, South Carolina, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love and care. She was the daughter of the late John and Maggie Bowen. A proud graduate of Sumter High School, class of 1970, Joan briefly continued her education at Benedict College.
Throughout her career, Joan worked in various roles, including at Baptist Hospital, Prisma Richland Hospital, Swansea High School, CMC Steel Plant, and Substation #3. She was deeply passionate about caring for others, whether it was through her work or by nurturing her beloved cats and plants. Above all, Joan cherished the time spent with her grandchildren, offering them boundless love and devotion.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents, John and Maggie Bowen, and her godmother, Susie Taylor. She is survived by her children, Jaree Jacobs, Girelle Howell, Gerald Howell, and Bernard Bowen; her grandchildren, Gi'Zelle Richardson, Onyx Edwards, Bentlii Howell, Kameron Howell, Patrick Newman, Claytron Cokley, and Mahogany Jacobs; her brother, Ronald (Sharon) Taylor; her sister, Synethia Taylor; and nieces Nicole Filipski, Taylor Wilson, and Tatyana Wilson.
Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
