Jewell Yvette Harris of Colombia, South Carolina was born September 1, 1955. She was the youngest child of nine children born to Alonzo S. Harris and Mary L. King. Affectionately known by her family as “Vette,” Jewell transitioned from this life into her heavenly home on July 11, 2021.
Jewell Yvette attended Eau Claire High School Graduated in 1974. She attended Erskine College in Due West, South Carolina, and after transferring to USC Columbia she received a degree in early childhood development.
A dedicated worker in her community of Ridgewood, Jewell Yvette loved her community of Ridgewood. She was a faithful member of Light Path Ministry. She was a right hand in assisting her sister and a Servant Leader of the ministry group. She was also a faithful member of Agape Christian Church, 627 Dixie Avenue, Columbia, South Carolina under the leadership of Pastor Susie Cobb and Overseer J. Cobb.
She was preceded in death by her parents the late Mary L. Harris and Alonzo S. Harris; one sister, Gloria F. Brown; one brother, Ronald A. Harris; grandparents, Rev. Susie B. King, and Rev. David A. King. She has a kingdom residence called heaven.
She leaves to mourn her three sisters, Jacqueline H. Sims, Cynthia L. Hill, and Andrea Z. (Milton) Montgomery; three brothers, Alonzo N. (Margaret) Harris, Charles M. Harris, Sr., and Larry A. Harris, all of Columbia; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
