Sister Jessie M. Oneal, devoted Jehovah’s Witness, mother, sister, and friend, was born to the late Willie and Bessie Carmicheal on April 2, 1933. She died Wednesday, May 4, 2022 in Columbia, South Carolina.
Sister Oneal, affectionately called “Granny”, resided in Springfield, South Carolina, where she raised her eight children diligently and moved to Columbia in 1967.
Sister Oneal was baptized in 1985 and became a dedicated and faithful Jehovah’s Witness. She led an exemplary life with over 20 years of pioneering and 35 years of service.
Sister Oneal was preceded in death by a daughter, Sylvia Simpkins.
Sister Oneal is survived by her children, Myra (Garfield) McGriff, Carrie (Jimmy) Garvin, Gloria Combs, Joan Taylor, Jeni (Larry) Williams, Karnell (Charlene) Gleaton, and Mary Gleaton; over 100 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends whom all will miss her dearly.
