Jacqueline Dianne Gladney was born on August 9, 1946, in Rock Hill, South Carolina to the late Alexander Barnette and Bessie Mitchell Barnette. She departed her earthly journey on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at the age of 75.
She began her Christian training at Hassion Hill Baptist Church, in Blair, SC, where she became a member at an early age. Jacqueline read her bible daily and she had a strong faith in her relationship with God. She included God in her daily life through prayer and love. Jacqueline was educated in the public schools of Fairfield County. She was a graduate of McCrorey-Liston High School and she later attended Friendship College and Benedict College.
Jaqueline loved her family dearly. She was an avid gardener with blessed hands that could make any flower bloom. She was also a lover of books and novels and the author of an unpublished novel called “Visions of Love”. She also enjoyed traveling and interacting with a great number of people, including friends and family. One of her greatest joys was keeping in touch with a wide network of people across the country who loved and cherished her. She was a social butterfly and she never met a stranger that she couldn’t befriend.
In addition to her parents who preceded her in death, her husband, Thomas Gladney, and sister, Joyce Evonne Barnette Mitchell also preceded her in death.
Jacqueline leaves to cherish her memory to her two daughters, Tiari Kanisuis Gladney and Deondra Shamar Gladney; one sister, Marjorie (James) Glymph; one brother, Rufus (Paula) Barnette; two brothers-in-law, Willie (Dorothy Mae) Gladney and Boysie (Martha) Gladney; four sisters-in-law, Betty Sims, Alice Adams, Elizabeth Lindsey, and Berneatha Gladney; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and family members who loved her dearly.
