Ms. Helen Taylor Obituary

Ms. Helen Jean Snipes Taylor was born April 13, 1953 in Columbia, South Carolina. to the late Mr. Leroy Norris Snipes and the late Mrs. Lillie Mae Wesley Snipes. She departed this earthly journey, surrounded by her family in her home, on July 10, 2020.

Helen was educated in the public school system of Richland County and graduated from Eau Claire High School in 1971.

Helen was a hard worker and team player as an employee of Palmetto Health Richland Hospital. She retired, after 25 years of dedicated service, in 2008.

Helen loved life and was described as “one of the sweetest persons” people had the pleasure of knowing. She loved her family and enjoyed family and friend gatherings. She also enjoyed church, traveling and encouraging others. We will fondly remember her love for movies with music such as “The Five Heartbeats,” “The Temptations,” “Ray” and “Cadillac Records” to name a few. Helen also enjoyed tasty food from her favorite restaurants, but none could touch her son-in-law’s cooking (in her opinion)! She loved everything he made her. We will miss her lively dancing and how she always started a soul train line. Helen will fondly be remembered for her loving smile and beautiful disposition of “never meeting a stranger” and being the neighborhood mom!

Helen always said she was blessed to have had two great loves in her life: the late Harold Richard Jennings (Lisa’s father) and the late Sammie Taylor (Samica’s father).

She was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings Lillie Mae Snipes, Samuel Lewis Snipes, Geraldine Wise, and Richard Snipes.

Helen leaves to cherish her loving and precious memory, her caring daughters, Lisa Jami Snipes and Samica Snipes-Smith; son-in-Love, Kenneth Smith, Jr; loving granddaughters, Kaila Le’ Asia Yvette Snipes and Kennedi Paige Smith; sisters, Leola (James) Tucker, Levonne Snipes and Emma Snipes; brothers, Leroy Snipes, Jr., Johnson Lee Snipes, and Pastor Robert (Ivory) Snipes; a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends who will miss her dearly.
