Hannah Veronica Cato Harris, affectionately known as “Ronnie”, was born on August 3, 1947 in Florence, South Carolina to the late George and Vivian Cato. She departed this earthly journey on March 1, 2020.
Hannah was educated in the public schools of Florence County and was a graduate of Wilson High School, Class of 1965. Later in her life, she was able to achieve one of her goals and received a degree in Behavioral Science from Columbia College.
Hannah had a colorful career path working several professions including: paralegal, entrepreneur, insurance saleswoman, and substitute teacher. In 2015, she retired as a Counselor from the State of South Carolina Department of Mental Health.
Hannah dedicated her life to her family, loved ones and community. She was involved in various organizations such as the Columbia Urban League and Black Women Entrepreneurs. To know Hannah and see her smile was to love her. She was a woman of character who believed in giving honor respect, loyalty and genuine love to anyone she met.
Hanna was preceded in death by her parents, George Cato and Vivian Rafus Cato; and four brothers, George Wayne Cato, Fredrick Earl Cato, Joseph Everett Cato, and George Randolph Cato.
Hannah leaves to cherish her precious memory her daughter, Renee (LeBarron) Ashford of Columbia, SC; three grandchildren, Jordan Ashford of Columbia, SC, Kailah and Amin Ashford, both of Atlanta, GA; two brothers, Abraham (Priscilla) Cato of Hartsville, SC and Garry Anthony (Patricia) Cato of Florence, SC; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
