Geneva Wannamaker Smith was born on October 31, 1966 in Columbia, South Carolina to the late Dennis Wannamaker and Christine Glover Roach. She was the oldest child and first grandchild. She peacefully passed away on Monday, May 17, 2021 at the age of 54.
Geneva was raised by her paternal grandmother, Janie Wannamaker Shell. She was educated in the public schools of Richland County. She was baptized and a member of Friendship Baptist Church. Geneva was employed at Fort Jackson until her health began to decline.
Geneva, affectionately known as “Ladybug” was a loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. She enjoyed shopping and loved to throw down in the kitchen. She had a smile that would light up any room she entered. Geneva also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She taught them their ABCs and 123s and that brought them so much enjoyment.
In addition to her father, Geneva was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Janie Wannamaker Shell and Dennis Rump; maternal grandparents, Eugene and Daisy Glover; and aunt, Louvania Shell.
Geneva leaves to cherish her precious memory her son, Marcus Wannamaker; daughter, Shamika Wannamaker; seven grandchildren, Shaniyah Williams, Jada Williams, Jaiden Williams, Sn’cer Wannamaker, Ty’Cen Wannamaker; Jermoni Ginyard, and Torrain Campbell; mother, Christine Glover Roach; siblings, Diane Dukes, Dennis (Sharon) Wannamaker, Laurie (Edwin) Carr, Quincey Glover, Tyrone (Veronica) Glover, Jason Roach, Baureguard Wannamaker, Christopher (Amyra) Wannamaker, and Michael Wannamaker; aunts, Amy Shell, Inez Bush, Beatrice McCoy, and Dorothy (Stanley) Archie; uncles, Walter (Elizabeth) Shell, Raymond (Bonnie) Glover, and Eugene (Deborah) Glover; special friends, Debra Jen, Gerana Crosby, and Jesse Green; special furry pet, “Smiley”; and a host of loving relatives and friends.
