Ms. Florine Washington

Florine Washington, born to Barnwell and Alice Wilson on October 4, 1948, passed away
peacefully at her home on June 1, 2025. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joel
Washington, whom she married on June 7, 1980. Joel preceded her in death in 2014.
A proud graduate of Bethel High School in Blythewood, Class of 1966, Florine went on to earn
her Registered Nurse (RN) degree from the University of South Carolina.  She dedicated her life
to the compassionate care of others, serving faithfully at Crafts-Farrow State Hospital until her
retirement.
At an early age, Florine joined Good Aim Baptist Church, where she served on the usher board
under the leadership of Rev. J.H. Roberson. Her faith was the foundation of her life, and she
remained a committed member, attending faithfully until her health declined.
To know Florine was to love her. She was a woman of strength, grace, and heartfelt kindness.
She was preceded in death by her brothers Barnwell Wilson Jr., Lawrence Wilson Sr., Thomas
Wilson, Horace Wilson, Joe Louis Wilson and Levi Wilson; and her sisters Katie B. Williams,
Rosetta Davis, Daisy Coleman, Ada Qualls Brown, and Edith Geiger.
She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted sisters, Beatrice Geiger of Blythewood and Annett
Nelson of the home; brother-in-law, Randolph Geiger of Columbia; beloved daughter/niece,
Arnisha Keitt of the home; sister-friend, Dorothy Richardson; adopted son, Vernon Richardson;
and her honorary grandchildren: Skylar Dixon, Kwan Jenkins, Hazel Jenkins, Olivia Jenkins, and
Mi’Karol Dawson. She is also fondly remembered by a host of nieces, nephews, extended family
members, neighbors, and lifelong friends.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Via Health Partners for their compassionate care and
gives special thanks to her devoted caregivers—Sandra Myers, Rashawnda Hopkins, Shanika
Stone, Patricia George and Morgan Dixon—for their unwavering support and love during her
final days.
