Ms. Erica Shauntae Benson

With heavy hearts but spirits full of love, we celebrate the unforgettable life of Erica
Shauntae Benson, a woman who didn’t just enter a room—she *owned* it. Born on October
26,1971, in Ville Platte, Louisiana. Erica brought light, laughter, and flair into the lives of all
who knew her.
She was the daughter of John and Edia Benson, and from a young age, she made it clear that
she was going to live life on her own terms. Whether she was walking into an event dressed
to the nines, commanding the floor at family gatherings, or turning a regular Tuesday into a
fashion show, she loved to be seen—and we loved to see her shine.
Erica had a heart just as bold as her style. She was fiercely loyal, deeply loving, and
unapologetically herself. She gave the best hugs, the realest advice, and had a laugh that
could fill a room. She celebrated everyone else’s victories just as loudly as her own.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and a family who adored her, a son Felix Harris,
grandchildren, Ace, Chase and Summer, her Mother Edia Benson, siblings Latrenda
(Colbert) Dixon, Quin (Darrick) Perkins, Johnnie (Russell Oree) Benson, Kevin Benson,
Zelpha Turner, Angel Martin, Ina Smith, Samir Clark, and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts,
uncles, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her father and one sister.
To say this “Diva” will be missed is an understatement. Erica will be remembered for her
style, her sass, her strength, and the way she made sure everyone knew when she had
arrived. The world is a little less bright without her, but Heaven just got its most glamorous
angel yet.
