Corinthina Bluford Hankins was born March 11, 1927, in Blythewood, South Carolina to the late John Bluford and Nancy Canzater Bluford and was the longest surviving child from this union. She departed this earthly journey Thursday, November 16, 2023.
Corinthina was educated in the public schools of Richland County, where she received her high school diploma.
Corinthina joined Mount Zion Baptist Church in Blythewood at an early age. Throughout her life, she would continue her love of Christ and faithful church service. In 1945, she wed her love, Andrew Hankins, with whom she had six beautiful children. She retired as a seamstress from the Fort Jackson Civil Service.
Corinthina was an active member of New Ebenezer Baptist Church for generations as a Missionary, Deaconess, and Elderly Ministry Servant Leader. Through her service in the Elderly Ministry, Corinthina delighted in planning, organizing, and implementing a myriad of adventures and excursions. She truly loved to “Get on the bus!” A member of several neighborhood and civic organizations, she was actively engaged in her community.
In addition to her parents, Corinthina was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Hankins; one son; one granddaughter; four sisters; and four brothers.
Corinthina was the definition of love. Anyone who knew “Mama Hankins” knew how deeply she cherished and loved her family. She leaves a legacy of love for generations to come.
