Corinthina Bluford Hankins was born March 11, 1927, in Blythewood, South Carolina to the late John Bluford and Nancy Canzater Bluford and was the longest surviving child from this union. She departed this earthly journey Thursday, November 16, 2023.
Corinthina was educated in the public schools of Richland County, where she received her high school diploma.
Corinthina joined Mount Zion Baptist Church in Blythewood at an early age. Throughout her life, she would continue her love of Christ and faithful church service. In 1945, she wed her love, Andrew Hankins, with whom she had six beautiful children. She retired as a seamstress from the Fort Jackson Civil Service.
Corinthina was an active member of New Ebenezer Baptist Church for generations as a Missionary, Deaconess, and Elderly Ministry Servant Leader. Through her service in the Elderly Ministry, Corinthina delighted in planning, organizing, and implementing a myriad of adventures and excursions. She truly loved to “Get on the bus!” A member of several neighborhood and civic organizations, she was actively engaged in her community.
In addition to her parents, Corinthina was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Hankins; one son; one granddaughter; four sisters; and four brothers.
Corinthina was the definition of love. Anyone who knew “Mama Hankins” knew how deeply she cherished and loved her family. She leaves a legacy of love for generations to come.
Corinthina leaves to cherish her legacy her children, John Hankins, James Hankins, Randye Hankins, Edward (Wanda) Hankins, and Cynthia Belton; grandchildren, Ryan (Karen) Jones, Tracey Hankins, Melody Curry, James Aldwin (Michelle) Hankins, Randall Hankins, Tara (Craig) Leatherwood, Jabar Hankins, Jerion (Octavia) Hankins, Shannon Hankins, SheKiah (Reginald) Reese, Insipira Smith, Ashley Belton, Roderick Hankins, Whitney Belton, and Morgan (Deon) Wilson; great-grandchildren, Omar Jones, Nigel (Courtney) Jones, Elizabeth Hankins, Aidan Hankins, Rainya Hankins, Avery Hankins, Roshawn Coleman, Kayla Brown, Wesley Cannon, Davis Leatherwood, Dameon Hankins, Bobbie Hankins, Olivia Hankins, Yvonne Hankins, Reginald Kai Reese, Gabrielle Reese, Bre’Asia Belton, LaNiya Belton, DeAndre’ Belton, Brennan Hankins, Kerigan Hankins, Wyatt Koffel, and Khan’Noir Belton; great-great-grandchildren, Nozomi Jones, Aiden Wilson, Ava Wilson, Sh’ryi Hankins, and Khyran Copes; two special nieces that she often traveled with, Rose Coaxum and Barbara Brown; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, church family, community and family members and friends.
