Bernardra Katrece Alexander, affectionately known as “Bonnie”, was born to Loretta Goins and the late Bernard Hart on July 9, 1970. She was raised with love by Sammie Lee and Leila Alexander. Bernardra earned her heavenly wings on the morning of February 7, 2020.
Bernardra was educated in the public schools of Richland County School District One. She graduated from W. J. Keenan High School, class of 1988. She was a proud member of Keenan’s marching band playing the clarinet. Bernardra continued her formal education at South Carolina State University in Orangeburg, South Carolina. Later in her quest for learning and knowledge, she attended Ultimate Medical Academy in Clearwater, Florida. There she earned an Associate’s Degree in Medical Administration Assistance. At the time of her death, Bernardra was employed as a Private Duty Sitter.
Bernardra was baptized at an early age at Zion Baptist Church under Reverend A. W. Goforth, Jr. As a child she grew up attending Sunday School and singing on the youth choir. Bernardra remained an active member of the church throughout her life, singing faithfully on the church choir.
Bernardra was a devoted, loving mother to her three children, Christopher, Diamond and Alicia. She was a people person and greeted everyone she met with a huge smile. Her hobbies included bowling, grilling food and entertaining friends.
Bernardra was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Higgins; parents, Bernard Hart, Sammie Lee Alexander, and Leila Mae Alexander; and brother, Sammie Lee Alexander, Jr.
Bernardra leaves to cherish her memory her three children, Christopher Alexander, Diamond Coleman, and Alicia Alexander; three sisters, Cynthia (Irvin) Mack of Warner Robins, GA, Tarishaus Smith of Charlotte, NC, and Avis Blackmon of Myrtle Beach, SC; two brothers, Perry (Linda) Alexander and Shawnel Gordon, both of Columbia, SC; a special friend, Samuel Vance; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends whom will all miss her dearly.
