Bernadette Flavor Morgan was born April 6, 1959, to the late Mary Ann Morgan and was raised by the late Susanna and Thomas Wilson in Blair, South Carolina. She departed this earthly journey on October 12, 2024 in Columbia, South Carolina.
Bernadette was a graduate of McCrorey-Liston High School and later attended both Columbia College and the University of South Carolina where she obtained two master’s degrees in Theater and Education.
Bernadette was a beloved school teacher for both Richland and Lexington Counties. After many years of dedicated service, she retired in 2022. Teaching was her passion; however she had many other talents that some didn’t know of. She was a comedian who loved to make people laugh. She was also Flavor the Clown who entertained for children’s parties and special occasions where she performed magic, juggled, made balloon animals and painted faces. Bernadette also loved to sing, dance, and make videos. She also created and copyrighted Multifly, modern and upbeat multiplication learning modules that consist of songs from different genres of music to teach children multiplication facts. These modules can still be found on YouTube on her Building Blocks Multifly channel.
In addition to her parents, Bernadette was preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth Morgan; and sister, Minnie Morgan.
Bernadette leaves to mourn her passing her two sons, James Coleman and Matthew Washington, Sr. of Columbia, SC; eight grandchildren, Alex Coleman, Josiah Coleman, Jakari Coleman, Matthew Washington, Jr., Zyonna Washington, Amiya Washington, Ayaan Washington, and India Broome; two brothers, John Morgan and Eugene Morgan both of Columbia, SC; four sisters, Loretta Morgan, Kimberly Morgan, Earline Morgan (Gerald) Taylor, and Geraldine Morgan (Christopher) Joyner all of Columbia, SC; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Bernadette we will miss you dearly, but leave some room on the dance floor until we meet again!
