Ms. Addie Mae Myers Bates

Addie Mae Myers Bates was born on December 5, 1937 to the late Freeman and Catherine Pierce. She departed this earthly journey on Sunday, December 8, 2019 at the home she once shared with her husband for forty years.

Addie Mae was educated in the public schools of Richland County and was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School.

Addie Mae was employed with Prisma Health formerly known as Richland Memorial Hospital, for many years until her retirement.

Addie Mae dedicated her life to her family and church. She was a devoted member of Chappelle Memorial A.M.E Church, where she sung on the Chancel Choir and served as a stewardess on the Missionary Board.

Addie Mae was preceded in death by her parents, Freeman and Catherine Pierce; her husband of 47 years, Ernest Bates; son, Wade Long, Jr.; and brother, Bobbie Myers;

Addie Mae leaves to cherish her precious memory is her daughter, Carmen (Jeff) Belton Carter of Columbia, SC; grandchildren, Troy, Todara, Tiasha and Tecola Belton, Tynesha Pagan, Bernard Tucker, Travon Cuaghman; eleven great grandchildren, one brother-in-law, Ben Williams; three sisters-in-law, Rebecca Bates, Francis Jackson and Delores Bates; cousins, Lottie Powers, Theodora Smith, and Theodore Parker; her confidant, Linda Doctor; neighbor, “Debra”; and a host of friends.
