Ms. Shirley Elaine Goodwin, the daughter of the late Marcella and Elease Goodwin, as born on January 20, 1953 in Columbia, SC. She departed this life on Monday, September 30, 2024 at Lexington Hospital.
Shirley was a graduate of Dreher High School. She was a gifted expert tailor who trained and clothed many in community. While employed with Hancock Fabrics, employees and customers relied on Shirley’s expertise and creativity for their individual needs when it came to selecting materials and crafting garments. Shirley was an employee of Southern Bell for many years as a Telephone Operator and worked part-time at UPS. However, she never lost her love for creating custom-made garments or performing complex alterations.
Though Shirley is no longer with us, the love she poured into her family will continue to live in the hearts of those that loved her.
Shirley E. Goodwin leaves to cherish her memory; one daughter, Tarsha Smith of Columbia, SC; four grandchildren, Brandon Goodwin, Ricky Williams, Quentin Smith, and Shayla Goodwin; one beloved grandson, Sunny Williams; two sisters, Rebecca Ramsey of Philadelphia, PA, Emma Watkins of Gadsden, SC; two brothers, Retired Sargent Elijah Williams of Columbia, SC, Larry Nazry of California; one Aunt Harriet Wilson of Georgia; one very special loving devoted and caring life partner of the home, Johnny Simpkins; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, who will miss her dearly.
