Mary Eliza “Hopkins” Jackson was born in Salemburg, North Carolina to the late Mr. Willie Hopkins and Mrs. Nazrine Hopkins on September 5, 1944. On January 5, 2021, she was called home to rest.
Mary was known in her hometown as the happy, loving, dancing lady. She was affectionately known as “Hoper” and some knew her as “Bubha Bubha.”
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Jackson; son, Kirby Jackson; and grandson, Thomas D. Evans.
Surviving are three daughters, Thomas Surlina Jackson, Dr. Bridget (Jason) Webb, both of Fayetteville, N.C., and Cheryl Jackson Luncheon, of Brooklyn, N.Y.; one sister, Sarah T. Johnson; three brothers, Bernard, Jimmy, and Willie Hopkins, Jr.; very special grandsons, Antonio D. Evans aka Roc, aka “my boy”, Charles N. Webb Jr. aka “Sweet Pea”; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchild; son-in-law, Charles N. Webb, Sr; very special bosses, Susan and Carol; special sons from another mother, Little David and Big Joe; special friends, Jacqueline McMillian, Zadie Joe, Patricia Shears, and Mary (Marian) White; cousins, Clarence Williams and Elaine Beatty; and a host family and friends all whom will miss her dearly.
