Ms. Margaret Stewart Mixon was born on March 7, 1952, in Richland County, South Carolina. She was
the beloved daughter of the late Martha B. Stewart, and the late David Stewart, Sr. Margaret entered into
eternal rest on Thursday, May 8, 2025, peacefully at home in Columbia, South Carolina.
Margaret was a 1970 graduate of C. A. Johnson High School. After high school, she worked for and
retried from SCDMH (Midlands Center). After retirement, Margaret was a caregiver to Michael Beal
(Elizabeth) and a host of others for many years.
Margaret was an avid gardener, seamstress, upholsterer, and she loved her puzzle books and putting
puzzles together. Margaret expressed her creative side through interior design, constantly refreshing her
and others living spaces in their homes. Margaret was a member of First John Baptist Church, where she
loved to sing on the choir and was the choir’s secretary for many years.
Margaret was a beautiful and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, who
was always there to lend a hand. Her smile and laugh were infectious and will forever live in the hearts
and minds of all who loved and knew her.
Margaret is preceded in death by her parents, and her sister, Jayne M. Stewart.
Ms. Margaret S. Mixon leaves to mourn her passing, her children, Brian S. Mixon, Monica F. Mixon,
Veronica Mixon-Goodwin, and Beonka L. Mixon; grandchildren, Melia R. Mixon, Brian Mixon, Jr., Mia
R. Mixon, Ryan A. Mixon, Jada A. Goodwin, Rashad Mixon-Ladson, and Keriana A. Anderson; a host of
great grandchildren; her loving siblings, Jean A. Stewart, David Stewart, Jr., Sherri E. Wilson, and Dean
I. Stewart; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
