Marchetta P. Davis, 68, entered eternal rest to be with her Heavenly Father on Saturday, January 30, 2021, in Hopkins, South Carolina. Born April 3, 1952. in Kansas City, Kansas, she was the daughter of the late Harriette Washington and Charlie Wilson.
She was a graduate of Kansas City High School and entered the University of Missouri, Roland Missouri in pursue of an English Degree. After a couple of years of studying, she decides to join the US Army and was assigned to the Quartermaster Corps at Fort Hood TX, and served proudly for three years. After her discharge, she returned to the University of Missouri to complete her English degree.
Marchetta was united on Holy Matrimony on December 29, 1977, to MSG Donald Davis. Later she would join him in Italy for the next four years. During this period, she worked for the Federal Government. When she returned to the United States with her husband for his assignment at Fort Jackson, SC in 1981. She gained employment with Fort Jackson’s Officer Club for one year. In 1984 she started her career with the SC Correction Agency and was a loyal and commended employee with numerous achievement awards and was promoted to Lieutenant. She worked twenty-one years of dedicated service before retiring.
We will all miss her infectious smile and loquacious nature. Her zest for life was always apparent; she exuded style and good taste, a true "fashionista." She took great pride in her appearance and stylish outfits as she never wanted to step out looking anyway but perfect. Occasionally, she went on bus trips to casinos and play bingo with her friends. She loved the art of sewing and designing her clothes.
In addition to her parents, Marchetta was preceded in death by two brothers, Willie Dotson and Gary Dotson; and stepfather, Floyd Johnson.
She is survived by her husband, Donald Davis of Columbia, SC; one brother, Michael Washington of Kansas City, KS; two sisters, Gordon Washington of Leavenworth, KS, and Diane Dotson of Kansas City, KS; two uncles, Rudy (Virginia) Alexander of Merced, CA; special friends, Beverly Williams of Columbia, SC, Linda Manning of Kansas City, KS, Susan Bostick of Columbia. SC, and Roslyn Washington of Hopkins, SC; and a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
As the last chapter of her life was written and published, you find this phase “I did it my way.”
