Juanita Shanklin Andrews Clark, affectionately known as “Nita”, “Aunt Nita” or “Mama Nita”, was born on February 28, 1934 to the late Forest and Mildred Shanklin in Todd County, Kentucky. Juanita transitioned to her heavenly home on Saturday, November 7, 2020.
Juanita was educated in the public schools of Todd County and was a graduate of Todd County High School. She also attended cosmetology and beauty school in Clarksville, Tennessee. After becoming a cosmetologist, Juanita decided to establish her career in banking and she remained there until retirement.
Juanita was known for her homemade pound cakes. She would try to make sure everyone received their cake! She also loved word puzzles, playing on her tablet, and bowling. She was loved by many and would always lend a helping hand, no matter the task.
Juanita accepted Christ at an early age. She was an active member of Greater St. Luke Baptist Church and served as a member of the finance department for many years.
Juanita was an active member of her community. She served as treasurer for the Highland Park Neighborhood Association for several years.
In addition to her parents, Juanita was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Clark, Sr.; step-son, Horrace Green; and two nieces, Rosalind and Debra Shanklin; and former husband, Ernest Andrews.
Juanita leaves to cherish her precious memories her daughter, Everlene (Richie) Mays; step-daughter, Bernice Clark; step-son, Gordon Clark, Jr.; three sisters, Barbara West of Indianapolis, IN, Lula Cunningham and Dorothy Chambers both of Columbia, SC; one brother, Fred (Pauline) Shanklin of Louisville, KY; and special friends, Mary Justice Conner, Lois Spencer and Daisy Eigner.
