Mrs. Jenny Jones Obituary

Mrs. Jenny Lynn Stukes Jones was born on May 30, 1956 in Manning, South Carolina to the late Mr. Sylvester "Bubba" Stukes and Mrs. Annie Bell Mickens Stukes. After being lovingly surrounded by her family, she peacefully departed this earthly life to be with her Lord and Savior on Resurrection Sunday, April 20, 2025.

Jenny joined the church and was baptized at an early age. She enjoyed singing and joyfully sang on the choir at Veighle Chapel Baptist Church, Columbia, SC. Throughout her life, she was devoted and served in various ministries before finding a spiritual home at Word of God Church and Ministries International, Columbia, SC. Her heart was always with Word of God, where she remained a committed member, attending services faithfully until her health declined.

Jenny attended Sumter County Public Schools. She graduated from Furman High School, Class of 1974, where she was a majorette and proud supporter of school actiities. She attended Columbia Junior College where she earned an Associate's Degree in Secretarial Science, and later Midlands Technical College.

From her youth, Jenny was ambitious. She was always excited about her work and was consistently diligent in all that she put her mind and hands to. There was never a pause in her endless occupational pursuits.

As a former military spouse to Herman McCuien, Jenny enjoyed her travels to different states and countries where she met life-long friends. Along with her family, she settled into a new life in Columbia, SC, and started her career working at the Fort Jackson Child Development Center. She loved serving others in whichever capacity she worked. She later become a Correctional Officer with the Department of Juvenile Justice, and ultimately an employee of Richland School District One where she worked in many classrooms, ranging from elementary to high school, until her retirement. Even during her full time work, she often made time to work part time, which included Belk Department Store; providing child care and home health care services; and serving as a security guard. She was passionate about each of them, especially working with children and home-bound patients, providing the nurturing and care they needed, including sharing her excellent culinary skills with them.

Jenny generously gave her time, gifts, and support to others whenever there was a need. She enjoyed many simple pleasures which included the beauty and smells of fresh flowers, shopping, chatting with friends, and especially spending time with her children and grandchildren, whom she cherished dearly and absolutely adored.

Mrs. Jenny Jones was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leroy Jones; sister, Ms. Zetter Stukes Richardson; and brother, David Stukes.

She leaves to cherish her memories her children, Kenny (Candice) McCuien, LaShanta Patterson (Chauncey Hunter); and Shenise McCuien; grandchildren, Asia Patterson, Javan Patterson, Diamond Patterson, Shaniyah Ward, and Alana McCuien; great grandchildren, Skylan Patter-son, Atlas Smith, and Aspen Smith; sisters, Mrs. Emma Mae (David) Gaymon, Mrs. Dorothy Ann (Dumont) Pleasant, and Mrs. Betty Jean (Robert) Scott; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, and friends.
