Dorothy Diann (Capers) Lucas was born on January 29, 1950, to Edward Capers, Jr.
and Annie B. (Wright) Capers. She was the second of six siblings, Herman, Brenda,
Perry, Terry, and Marcus. Dorothy received an education from the Columbus,
GA Public School System, where she graduated from Spencer High School in
1968. She later received an associate's Degree in Dental Hygiene from Cabrillo
College, Aptos, California, and a Bachelor of Science in Health Services from
the Medical Universityof South Carolina at Charleston, SC.
In 1968 she married the love of her life, Richard L. Lucas, Sr., and served
as a spouse in United States Army for 20 years. After her husband retired,
Dorothy continued to serve the federal government as Fort Jackson Public
Health Dental Hygienist and Fort Jackson Equal Opportunity Specialist.
Once Dorothy retired completely, she had over 33 years of service to the
Federal Government. Dorothy and Richard were married for 55 years.
Dorothy departed from this side of God's glorious kingdom on this Day May 15, 2023.
She leaves behind a family that truly loves her. Husband, Richard; Three Sons,
Calvin, Richard, Jr., and Charles, One Daughter-in-law, Shameeca; Granddaughters,
Cearra Harris, Deidrah Jones, Marissa Moore, Camryn M. Lucas, Zoe M. Lucas,
Leah S. Lucas, Two Grandsons, Camari McKinney, Carmelo A. Lucas, and Two
Great Granddaughters, Malinah R. Jones, and Mila R. Jones.
