Mrs. Doris Smith Davis began her life on January 6, 1948, in Columbia, South Carolina. Doris
transitioned to her heavenly home on Thursday, February 20, 2025. She departed this life at the
age of 77. She was the daughter of the late Nathan Smith and the late Minnie O. Taylor Smith.
Doris was a lively, friendly, and loving person who cared for her family deeply. She took pride in
knowing that her family loved her, and she loved them. More so, she loved the Lord. She was a
loyal and dedicated member at the Brookland Baptist Church in West Columbia, SC until her
health began to fail.
Whenever you would walk into the back porch where Doris loved to sit, she would be listening
to gospel music or watching baseball. The Atlanta Braves was her favorite team. When the
Braves were on television, she would devote her entire attention to the game. She loved to cook
and serve others. Doris volunteered at the Brookland Baptist Church Soup Kitchen for many
years. She and Billy loved entertaining and serving others.
Doris was educated in the public schools of Richland County and was a graduate of CA Johnson
High School Class of 1966. She was a dedicated bookkeeper for many years until she became a
dedicated housewife. She loved babysitting her nieces and nephews in her earlier years.
Doris met and married the love of her life, Billy Davis and from this union they had three
children. They were married 58 years. Doris was a loving mother, grandmother, great-
grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She has left a legacy of love to all those who loved and
knew her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughters, NaKisha Shandell Davis
and LaRhonda Davis Gibson; granddaughter, Raena Gibson; grandson, Ketron Gibson, Jr. (KJ);
