Diana Washington was born on January 29, 1961, in Bishopville, South Carolina to the late Vander Washington and Sarah O’niel Harriet. She departed this earthly journey on January 11, 2022, in Columbia, South Carolina.
Diana was a graduate of Bishopville High School. She earned a Bachelor's Degree in Art from Benedict College. Diana later attended Columbia College, and graduated in 2004, with a Master’s Degree in Education. Art and education were her passion. Diana taught at Lee Central High School and Carver Lyon Elementary, where she later retired.
Diana met the love of her life, Brian Phillips in Columbia, South Carolina. They were married on May 3, 2011.
Diana was a member of the North Star Christian Center. She found many pleasures in life. Diana enjoyed being on the go. Brian would often tell her to just relax. She enjoyed painting and traveling with her husband. Helping her students gave her immense joy. Diana considered her students as her own and worked tirelessly to ensure her students had the necessary supplies to be academically successful.
In addition to her parents, Diana was preceded in death by her sister Van Netta Washington Boone.
Diana leaves to cherish her memory, her beloved husband Brian of the home; stepson, Brian (Amanda) Phillips, Jr.; stepdaughter, Tavia Giviens; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Barbara (Jerry) Jackson of Columbia, SC and Corretta Washington of Lancaster, SC; three brothers, Lavern Washington of Newark, NJ, John Washington of Columbia, SC, and Kelton (Cornelia) Washington of Fort Mill, SC; special niece, Noelle Washington of Lancaster, SC; and a host of family and friends who will miss her dearly.
