Mrs. Carolla Williams Obituary

Carolla Muldrow Williams, affectionally known as “Tootsie”, age 81, departed this world peacefully surrounded by family at Prisma Richland Hospital, Columbia, South Carolina, on December 29, 2024.

Carolla was born on October 27, 1943, in Sumter County, South Carolina to the late Carolina Muldrow and Aileen Cooper Muldrow.

Carolla attended Sumter County public schools and graduated from Eastern High School. She joined Goodwill Presbyterian Church at a young age, where she sang in the choir under Mrs. Lillie B. Nelson’s direction.

After graduation, she moved to Warren, Ohio, to live with her aunt, Mary Cooper Johnson, and worked at GMC Motors Manufacturing until retirement. Following her retirement, she remained in Warren for several years before relocating to Columbia, South Carolina, to be near her sister, Deloris Muldrow James. She rejoined Goodwill Presbyterian Church under Reverend Nick Cheeks’ leadership.

Carolla married the late Van Williams, with whom she co-founded the Trumbull County African American Achievers Association (TCAAA), an organization dedicated to promoting education and brotherhood. A licensed barber, she owned Williams Barbershop in Warren, Ohio.

Carolla was preceded in death by her parents and siblings: Pearline Cooper, Delphine Bonds, Robert Cooper, and James Edward Muldrow.

Carolla is survived by her sister, Deloris (Tommy) James; brother, William Henry “Freddie” Muldrow; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
