Arminta Linn Artis (Britt) entered this world on August 4, 1947 in Des Moines, Iowa. She was the beloved daughter of the late Ernest Herman Britt, Jr. and Lois Lynn Britt (Ampey). She went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 24, 2022 at Lexington Medical Center in Lexington, South Carolina.
Arminta grew up in Omaha, Nebraska and was educated in the Omaha Public School System. She was a 1965 graduate of Omaha Technical High School and went on to study at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. While in college, she worked in the records department at Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska for a few years until she met and fell in love with a young United States Air Force Airman named Billy. She and Billy were married in 1969 and had a loving marriage for 52 years. Throughout her life, Arminta was a dedicated “Mother of her Community”. This is said because she was the caregiver to many children in her home for over 45 years. Affectionately known as “Mint Mint”, she was especially devoted to her church family at Fruit of the Spirit Christian Fellowship Church, where she served on many ministries including the Women of Destiny and the Usher Board, to name a few.
Left behind to cherish her memories are her husband, Billy Ray Artis Sr.; her daughter, Angela Marie Artis of Columbia, South Carolina; her son, Billy Ray Artis Jr. (Tonya) of Yorktown, Virginia; two grandchildren, Ariana Denise Artis of Orlando, Florida and Anthony Dale Artis of Yorktown, Virginia; three brothers, Ernest Herman Britt, III, Deverne Larry Britt, and Kim Michael Britt; all of Omaha, Nebraska; one sister, Sondra Thurman (Britt) also of Omaha, Nebraska; three, Sister-in-laws, Fannie Barnes of Brooklyn, New York, Mary Artis of Capital Heights, Maryland, Annette Artis of Silver Springs, Maryland; two special “God Babies” Robert Smith, Jr. and Briana Bryant. Plus, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends that adored her.
