Xavier Wellington Draper, lovingly known to those who knew him as “Zay,” was born on
November 7, 2000, in the vibrant city of Lexington, Kentucky, to his devoted mother, Ms. Jada
Yeast Draper, and the late Ryan Oneal Draper. His journey on this earth was tragically cut short
when he passed away on March 8, 2005, in the comfort of his residence. His untimely departure
leaves an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
From an early age, Xavier exhibited a spirit of determination and perseverance. He graduated
from the Youth Challenge Center in South Carolina at the tender age of 16, earning a certificate
that would serve as a testament to his commitment to self-improvement and growth. Eager to
continue his education, Xavier pursued further studies at ECPI, where he attended for two
semesters. His journey was one of constant learning and self-discovery.
Xavier’s work ethic was unmatched, and he approached every job with dedication and a fierce
sense of responsibility. He spent two years contributing his skills and labor at Michelin Tire and
Manufacturing, where he formed lasting relationships and learned the value of hard work.
Seeking new opportunities and challenges, Xavier later relocated to Georgia, where he joined
Centennial Farms, a prominent Kroger Distribution Center. There, he continued to make a
meaningful impact in his professional life, building a reputation as someone who could be
counted on in times of need.
Xavier was preceded in death by his father, Ryan Oneal Draper, whose passing left a void in his
life. Though Xavier’s time with his father was short, the bond between them was one of love and
mutual respect.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving mother, Jada Yeast Draper, who was a constant source
of strength and support throughout his life, and his step-father, Jonathan Williams, whose
presence in Xavier’s life added an additional layer of care and guidance. Xavier’s memory will
also live on through his siblings: his brother, Lee Booker; and his sisters, Destiny Brandy and
Ebonii Draper. Along with his immediate family, Xavier is survived by a close-knit extended
family who will forever hold him in their hearts. This includes his aunts: Teresa (Keith) James,
Renee Yeast, and Andrea (Nate) White; his uncle, Loveorce Johnson; as well as a host of other
cherished relatives and friends, all of whom will deeply miss the warmth, laughter, and love
Xavier brought into their lives.
While Xavier’s time on this earth was brief, his impact was profound. His memory will continue
to live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him, and his legacy of
perseverance, kindness, and love will never be forgotten.
