Tracey Lamont Adams, affectionately known as “Coach Adams”, was born January 1, 1971 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Carrie Adams Johnson. He entered into eternal rest on Monday, November 7, 2022.
Tracey was educated in the public schools of Sumter, South Carolina and was a graduate of Sumter High School, Class of 1989. Following graduation from high school, he attended South Carolina State University. While at South Carolina State University, he joined the United States Army. After serving his military duties, Tracey returned to school and received his degree. He was employed by Richland County School District One at Burton Pack Elementary School. Tracey was also the Assistant Girls’ Basketball Coach at Hammond School.
Tracey married Maxine Renee' Moses on April 29, 2000, and relocated to Columbia, South Carolina. From this union, a son was born, Kayden.
Tracey was a loving husband and father, Maxine and Kayden were his pride and joy. He impacted the lives of many students and athletes that he coached and mentored. Tracey found much joy in speaking with some of his former athletes and hearing about the positive role he played in each of their lives.
Tracey leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife, Maxine Renee' Adams; beloved son, Kayden Joshua Adams, both of Columbia, SC; mother, Carrie Adams Johnson (Levi) of Dalzell, SC; sister, Carolyn Frierson (Mickey); grandmother, Norene Polk James; aunt, Rebecca Pugh of Sumter, SC; nieces, Simone, Brooke, and Jessica of Hartsville, SC; and a host of cousins, relatives, basketball players, students, colleagues, and friends.
