Mr. Thomas "Austin" Dodd

Thomas Austin Dodd, affectionately known as Austin, was born on Saturday, March 25, 1995, in Greenville County, South Carolina, to the Rev. Tommy and Yolanda Dodd. On Wednesday, January 22, 2025, Austin was called home to be with the Lord, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. 

Austin was educated in Richland School District 2, where he forged deep and lasting bonds. While attending Longleaf Middle School, he met Raquel Jones, the woman who would later become his devoted wife. His high school years at Blythewood High were filled with developing long-lasting friendships, many accomplishments, and personal growth. He excelled as a member of the basketball and track teams. During his senior year, he proudly ran the final leg of the 4x100 relay to secure a state championship victory. After graduating from Blythewood High School, Austin pursued higher education at Winthrop University and later served his country in the United States Army Reserve. 

Austin gave his life to Christ at an early age, reflecting a faith that guided his steps and shaped his heart. He was baptized at First Nazareth Baptist Church, where he faithfully served as an usher and choir member. Known for his radiant smile and genuine spirit, he lit up every room he entered. Austin left an indelible mark on all who knew him through his presence, kind words, and acts of service. He brought comfort and happiness to those around him, offering encouragement, or a listening ear.  There was never a doubt that he lived with purpose and conviction, doing things his way.  In his life, Austin faced every challenge, celebrated every triumph, and lived with no regrets.    

Austin was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Yancey Warren Cureton and Tommie Alfred Dodd.

As a family man, he embraced his role as a husband, father, son, and brother. To honor his memory, Austin leaves behind his beloved wife, Raquel Dodd; his three children, Carson, Collin, and Jaxon, who were the light of his life; his devoted parents, Rev. Tommy and Yolanda Dodd; his brother and friend, Patrick Dodd; his grandmothers, Shelby Cureton and Patricia Dodd; his mother-in-law, Carolette Robertson; father-in-law, Henry Green; sister-in-law, Rochelle Jones; brothers-in-law, Terrell Robertson, Tyquan Chestnut and Trevette Jones; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who will forever treasure the joy he brought into their lives. 

While his time here was far too brief, his legacy will endure through the countless lives he touched and the memories he created with those who knew and loved him.
