Mr. Sip Eugene Gripper, Jr.

Mr. Sip Eugene Gripper, Jr. was born on February 8, 1938 in Ridgeway, South Carolina. Sip was the third child born to the late Sip Eugene Gripper, Sr. and the late Leila Stone Gripper. On Saturday, May 9, 2020, Sip transitioned from his earthly life to his heavenly home. 

Sip, Jr., was baptized at an early age at White Oak Baptist Church in the Bellfield Community of Fairfield County. Sip, Jr. was educated in the public schools of Fairfield County, South Carolina. Where he was a graduate in the Class of 1957 from Fairfield County Training High School, a historic African American school located in Winnsboro, South Carolina. After graduating, Sip, Jr. worked for a while at his uncles’ Sawmill Company. From there Sip, Jr. became employed by the South Carolina Department of Mental Health from which he faithfully worked until he retired. 

After retiring from the State Department, Sip, Jr. worked several more years for Richland County School District Two as an activity bus driver. There he would utilize his CDL training and his passion for driving while becoming one of the most requested drivers by the teachers and staff. 

In addition to his parents, Sip, Jr. was preceded in death by two sisters, Lula Gripper Belton and Melvina Gripper-Palmer. 

Sip leaves to mourn his passing and cherish his memory, his lovely wife, Mary Ann Carma Gripper; three sons, Michael Carma, Orlando (Carolyn) Gripper, and Timothy (Shaneka) Gripper; three daughters, Elvira Mack, Audrey Carma, and Adriane (Timothy) Telford; three sisters, Hattie Grant, Ernestine (Bozie) Palmer, and Clara St. Clair of Chicago, IL.; one brother, Joe (Mazie) Gripper of Cassatt, SC; two sisters-in-law, Mary Francis Ealy and Rebecca Diane Ramsey of NJ; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends all of who will miss him dearly.
