With profound sadness and deep love, the family of Silas Wesley Bright, Sr., announces his peaceful passing on June 16, 2025, just five days shy of his 93rd birthday. Born in Blythewood, South Carolina, Silas was the third of thirteen children of the late John Wesley Bright and the late Mariah Cannon Bright, and shared a close bond with his late twin brother, Paul. A proud graduate of the original Blythewood High School, he served as a Corporal in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After his military service and graduation, he worked diligently in farming, at Stone Manufacturing, and at the Budweiser warehouse. He later retired from Hobart/Whirlpool. He was ordained as a deacon at Greater Carolina Baptist Church and remained a devoted member of Zion Pilgrim Baptist Church (Richtex).
Silas was a loving husband to Hattie Thompson Bright, with whom he built a life filled with love, faith, and family. He was known for his sharp style, passion for restoring cars, love of drag races, and drive-in movies. Silas was preceded in death by his parents, several siblings, his daughter Cynthia, granddaughter India, and great-grandsons Armani and Majid. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Hattie; children Debra (Calvin), Wesley (Angie), and Sandra; son-in-law William; 8 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and many beloved siblings, extended family, and friends. His legacy of strength, wisdom, and love will continue to inspire all who knew him.
