Obituary

Sherard Morrell Leaverette was born on April 12, 1976, and transitioned from this life on August
11, 2023, at the age of 47. He was born and reared to parents, Willie Leaverette, Jr. & Ruth S.
Leaverette in Aiken, South Carolina. Sherard was a loving husband, father to a beautiful
daughter, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. He will forever be remembered for all the care and
concern that he expressed towards everyone who met him. His spirit, huge smile, and passion
for life was contagious and filled the room whenever he was present. God’s presence was
always felt in his every action and deed, leaving an impression on every person he was in
contact with.

He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at a very early age, where his spiritual journey
began at Mount Canaan Baptist Church. As he continued to grow during his spiritual walk with
his Lord & Savior, Sherard matriculated on to Bible Way-Piedmont Ministries, and then to Bible
Way Church of Atlas Road, and finally on to Forward City Church, where each ministry played an
integral role in his spiritual growth and maturity at every stage of his life.

He received his education in the Aiken County School System, receiving his high school diploma
from Aiken High School, and furthered his education at the University of South Carolina. In the
marketplace, he served as a project coordinator for the past 20 years at Jumper, Carter, Sease
Architects in West Columbia, SC.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Willie James Leaverette and “Baby” Leaverette;
paternal grandparents, Rev. Willie Leaverette, Sr. and Louise Leaverette; maternal grandparents,
James Smith, Sr. and Viola K. Smith; niece & nephew, Ariana & Aaron Camp; god-sister, Michelle
Garrett-Johnson; and a host of loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Sherard was loved and adored by a plethora of his family and friends and leaves behind to
cherish many fond, wonderful memories: his loving wife of 19 years, Danyel S. Leaverette; one
