Samuel Jacobs Scott, born January 6, 1946, was promoted to glory on February 9, 2021. He was a member of Capernaum Church of Hopkins, SC, and later became a soldier (member) of The Salvation Army Orangeburg Corps (church).
Samuel spent more than forty years as a long-distance truck driver. After retirement, he worked as a seasonal Bell Ringing Coordinator and Angel Tree Support Staff for the Salvation Army. Samuel took great pride in working within his community and serving the Lord. There was never a task that he denied.
Samuel enjoyed traveling, flea market shopping, and fishing. One spring he received an award for catching the largest bass fish at the Salvation Army Camp Walter Johnson in Denton, NC.
Samuel was a man that never met a stranger a day in his life; he was a lighthearted man with a smile that would light up any room!
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Jacobs Scott; two brothers Jimmy Lee and Charles Scott; two sisters Elizabeth Jacobs and Leola Scott; and one infant son, Roland Hayward Scott.
Samuel leaves to cherish his memory, four sons, Samuel D. Scott, Timothy J. Williams, Jacob D. (Jasmyne) Harsey, and Samuel Elijah Scott; three daughters, Samantha Scott Tucker, Keysha Joyner, and Tabitha Sutton; four brothers, Jerry, Clarence, Henry, and Albert Scott of Utah; and a host of other family members and friends.
