Mr. Rufus "Rudy" Stokes

Rufus Alexander Stokes was the fourth child born to the late Mr. Cortez and Ruth
Stokes on December 18, 1946, in Columbia, South Carolina. He departed this life to join
his heavenly father on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at MUSC Health Columbia Medical
Center Downtown Columbia, South Carolina. Rufus was affectionately known as "Rudy"
by family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Rudy was preceded in death by his siblings, Sandra Stokes
and Ruth Stokes and Freddie Stokes; a niece, Michelle Stokes and a sister-in-law,
Christine Stokes.
Rufus leaves to cherish his memories: four brothers, Cortez Stokes and Ronald Stokes,
of Stamford, CT, Sherman Stokes and Freddie Stokes all of Columbia, SC; nine sisters,
Margie Evans and Bernice Stokes of Stamford, CT, Gwendolyn Stokes, Valorie
(Daniel) Crawford, Jacqueline Stokes of Dallas, TX, Audrey Dawkins, Janie Stokes,
Wanda Stokes and Wendy Stokes of Columbia, SC; nieces, Terrie (Jerome) Chaney of
Colonial Heights, VA, Lolita Barnes of Charlotte, NC; nephews, Kevin (Abi) Stokes of
Washington, DC, James Stokes of Bowie, MD, Sherman Stokes, Jr. of Columbia, SC, a
host of great-nieces and great-nephews, and a host of other relatives, friends, and
former coworkers,  all of whom will miss him dearly.
