Roy Edward Fulgham was born on November 19, 1937 in Youngstown, Ohio. He was the only child of the late Charles and Nothia Townes Fulgham.
Roy attended the public schools in Youngtown, Ohio. He served in the United State Air Force July 24, 1954 until December 3, 1957 during the Korean War.
Roy met and married Evelyn Cobb in Aiken, South Carolina and returned to Ohio and later Chicago, Illinois. While in Chicago, he decided to attend mortuary school. After obtaining his degree, he moved his family back to Columbia, South Carolina where he did his apprenticeship at the Johnsons Funeral Home in 1971. He also worked at Leevy’s Funeral Home and Bostick-Tompkins Funeral Home. Roy had various jobs in his life, but he loved embalming and working as a kettle man in commercial roofing at Starick Roofing Company.
Roy enjoyed being social, kind, and generous to others. He also loved doing Bible Study.
Roy will be missed and has created many impactful memories in the lives of those who knew him well.
Roy leaves behind the mother of his children, Evelyn Cobb Fulgham; two daughters, Phyllis Deneise Fulgham and Neisha Machon Fulgham both of Columbia, SC; granddaughter, Chantel Ladawn Fulgham; loved ones he considered family; nieces, Rhoda Brown, and Shantera Brown; nephew, Omari Brown; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
