Robert J. “Bob” Weithman, age 75, of New Washington, passed away on Friday, September 30, 2022 at the home of his sister, Melissa Hancock, in Columbia, SC. He was born on April 30, 1947 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Eugene and Carol (James) Weithman. Bob was known to many as “Bones”. He was a heavy equipment operator for Cedar Bay Construction and Weithman Brothers. His interests included watching western movies, Nascar, and cheering on the Cleveland Browns and the OSU Buckeyes. He dearly enjoyed becoming a PawPaw in 2005 and cherished all the time he had with his granddaughters. Bob was a member of the St. Bernard’s Catholic Church for several years and was a former basketball coach for the St. Bernard Blazers.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Masuyo Weithman, whom he married on May 1, 1970 in Okinawa, Japan while in the United States Marine Corp. He is also survived by 3 children, Tony Weithman of New Washington; LeeAnn (Jim) Ruffing of Attica; Lana (Tom Bassett) Webster of Tecumseh, MI; 2 granddaughters, Makenna Webster and Brylee Ruffing; 3 step-grandchildren, Allison Ruffing, Kelsey Ruffing, and Tommy Bassett; 3 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Thomas Weithman of New Washington; Paula Price of Willard; William Weithman of Galion; Melissa Hancock of Columbia, SC; brother-in-law, Scott Hancock of Columbia SC; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, father-in-law, a sister-in-law, Chris Weithman, and brother-in-law, Willard Price.
Honoring the decedent’s wishes, there will be no formal services.
