Mr. Robert A. Farmer, Sr.

Mr. Robert A. Farmer Sr. one of twelve children of the late Florie Mae Farmer Mikel and Morhees Farmer, was born on January 11, 1936 in Cottageville, South Carolina.  He received his education in Colleton County, South Carolina.

Mr. Farmer learned the trade of a brick mason as well as other construction skills and moved to Norfolk Virginia.  He was known for the construction and brick work of many apartments, homes, and commercial buildings.  He was skilled in the preparation and finishing of concrete, also becoming proficient in carpentry skills as well. In one particular neighborhood he was known as the "Mayor of Ghent" due to the majority of homes he built, and repaired.

Mr. Farmer was instrumental in helping his neighbors in the Coronado Community.  He often helped with home repair, projects, and yard work.  After his retirement, he loved to keep his yard immaculate and growing vegetables, which he often gave to his fellow neighbors.

Robert A. Farmer Sr. transitioned peacefully following illness on October 18, 2021 in Columbia, South Carolina, where he was cared for by his son, daughter-in-law, and his grandchildren.

He leaves behind to celebrate his memory, one son, Robert A. (Sharanda) Farmer Jr.; two grandchildren that he loved very much as he referred to them as "his girls", Anyah Farmer and Alycia Farmer; one sister, Minnie Carol Alexander of New York; two nephews who he was an integral part of their growth, Andre (Val) Rhodes of Richmond, VA and Angelo (Mickey) Congo of Baltimore, MD; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
