Mr. Ricky Anderson Sr.

November 10, 1955 ~ October 9, 2025 (age 69) 69 Years Old

Mr. Ricky Anderson Sr. Obituary

Mr. Ricky Darrell Anderson was the last surviving son from the union of the late Ernest Calvin and Dorothy Barney Anderson.  He was born on November 10, 1955, in Columbia, SC and departed his earthy life on October 9, 2025.  Ricky was the 6th child out of 9 children. 

He attended St John Baptist Church as a young child and attended various churches as an adult.  Ricky was educated in the public school system of Columbia SC and graduated in 1974 from CA Johnson High. He was in the Air Force ROTC while at CAJ.  He worked for the Internal Revenue Service from 1975-1979. Ricky was a 1979 graduate of Georgia Institute of Technology with a degree in Industrial management.   

He worked in management at Cheeseboro Pond from 1979-1984 (Vaseline Intensive Care).  

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his four brothers, Lacy Carroll Anderson, Ernest, Jimmy and Rodney Anderson; one brother-in-law Joseph Daniel Eaddy. 

Ricky was a proud father; he leaves to cherish his memory one devoted son, Ricky Darrell Anderson Jr, one grandson, Richiano Davion Anderson, 

four sisters, Dorothy L Anderson of Columbia, SC; Robin A. Eaddy of Columbia SC; Crystal (Russell) Burkett of Hopkins SC; April (Mitchell) Cobbs of Columbia SC; Sister-In-Law Irenna Anderson of SanAntonio, Texas. One God son George Ross and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. 

Ricky enjoyed playing the guitar, listening to music, taking long walks, watching television, and making others laugh by telling jokes.  His Godly gift was singing.  His favorite song was “Just a Closer Walk with Thee” and he always sang “Happy Birthday” to others.  

At Mental Illness Recovery Center, INC (MIRCI) –Ricky was a Peer Support Specialist.  Ricky was a recipient of the Donald Harding Lighting the Way to MH Volunteer Award.  For several years Ricky purchased quarterly “Our Daily Bread” devotional booklets to give to others. He also led weekly devotionals for client in services.
