Mr. Richard Fradenburgh Obituary

Richard Fradenburgh “Dick” was called home to be with the Lord January 25, 2026 peacefully in his home surrounded by his family in Blythewood, South Carolina. He was 83 years old.

Dick was the son of V. Raymond Fradenburgh and Doris Fradenburgh. He was born in Wyandotte, MI on January 3, 1943 he attended and graduated from Riverview High School. After his high school graduation Dick immediately entered the United States Navy. He went on to serve his country for 30 years, 28 of those years as a proud Navy SEAL. After completing rigorous Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL (BUD/S) training and becoming a Navy SEAL, he married his high school sweetheart, Katie. They went on to have 3 children, 9 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren. His family was the center of his world and his greatest pride. Throughout his distinguished military career, Dick formed lifelong bonds and carried with him countless stories from his early Navy years through his decades as a Navy SEAL. If you had the privilege of sitting with Dick for any length of time, you likely heard one of his stories — and if you kept listening, he would gladly keep telling them. His stories will be remembered by all who loved him.

After his military retirement, Dick along with his wife Katie, son Andy, and daughter-in-law Kathy opened Nina’s Classic Cuisine in Pinehurst, NC. Together, they created more than a restaurant — they created a place where people felt welcomed, well fed, and cared for. Dick and Katie were simply the best to everyone who walked through their doors. Hospitality wasn’t something they did; it was who they were. Throughout his life, Dick built a powerful legacy of helping others — reaching out, lifting up, and even offering a home to those in need along his journey. He served in every sense of the word: serving his country with courage, serving his family with unwavering strength and joy, and serving his community with generosity and heart. In his final years, Dick’s happiest moments were spent surrounded by his family. If he could gather everyone together and serve them a great meal, he was content. Food, laughter, stories, and togetherness — these were the things that filled his heart. He will be greatly missed, and his legacy of service, love, and hospitality will live on in every story told, every meal shared, and every life he touched.

Dick is survived by his wife, Katie, his sons Andy (wife, Kathy), Jason (wife, Crissy) and his daughter, Patrice (husband, Joe), nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren, and his brother Randy (wife Joanne).
