Reginald Clarke was born on November 26, 1953 in New York to the late Elvina Diaz and the late Alva Clarke. He was married to Shirley Clarke for 47 years. He was called to eternal rest on March 19, 2021.
Reginald was a class of 1971 graduate of Boys High School in Brooklyn, New York. He also attended Manhattan Community College. He was often seen as a quiet stoic man who held a wealth of wisdom gained through various experiences. Reginald enjoyed listening to Kool and the Gang and various artists from his youth. He was passionate about cooking on the grill. In his spare time, he would be working on cars, visiting flea markets, and exploring new BBQ restaurants to try. He would often tease his family and grandchildren by saying; “You have champagne taste but a Coca Cola pocketbook!” or the timeless classic, “Bed-Stuy Do or Die!” which often earned a fit of laughter by all.
Reginald was a diligent worker in the law enforcement field for over 20 years. He was employed by American Security at Prisma Health Baptist in Columbia, South Carolina.
Reginald leaves to cherish his precious memories his devoted wife, Shirley Clarke; his son, Dammeon (Edwana) Clarke; his two daughters, Arlana (Raynald) Turner, and Gwendolyn (Phillip) Williams; eight grandsons, Dammeon Clarke Jr., Trenton Clarke, Ares Clarke, Noah Clarke, Dorian Williams, O’Brian Watkins, Kenneth Watkins, and Desmond Watkins; granddaughters; Raven Turner, Daija Parks, Datoria Watson, Za’Kira Watkins, and Ashijhana Watkins; his sister, Patricia Clarke of New York; two nieces, Ayisha Clarke and Dialva Clarke of New York; and a host of nieces, nephews, great grandchildren, family and friends.
